Performance lecture with Karen Christopher / 2017
45 minutes

Featherweight is part of The Difference Between Home and Poem: a duet series conceived by Karen Christopher and jointly made and performed with one other artist for each individual duet.

Featherweight grew out of a residency of open studio days at the University of Roehampton, during which Karen and Lucy read and responded to a wide range of sources and materials involving empathy, time and interdependency. Carrying another / an other was a gesture that arose from two bodies temporarily conjoining: a surfer duct-taping his friend’s paralysed mother to his back so that she could still experience the movement of the sea. This co-existed alongside an invented score through which to explore artist Bridget Riley’s consideration of colour and light.

Featherweight has so far been performed in the UK at Chisenhale Dance Space (2017), the University of Roehampton (2015) and the University of Plymouth (2017)

Lucy and Karen have also presented another performance lecture Solid or Liquid: The Shape of Water at HZT, Berlin, Germany
