Lucy was one of 19 artists invited to make a work for Southwark Park Environs for artist Anne Bean’s year-long REAP project.

this waltz, which holds me: a nine x one minute site sensitive video installation.

We began in response to a piece of music. The piece of music was never played.

The roundness of the bandstand inspired a waltz: ‘waltzen’ – to ‘turn’. 
The rhythm of the waltz is thought to mimic the body’s venous flow: the return of the blood to the heart. The slight pause before the second, lighter beat (1, 2, 3) like a valve, opening. 
The video installation loosely follows a rondo structure (as do many waltzes).
