Dialogues With People and Places
“Everything we do is done by invitation. That invitation comes from oneself or from another person.” John Cage
Artist and filmmaker Lucy Cash shares some work from her recent practice and considers strategies for making and collaborating in different kinds of contexts. Cash comes from a background in performance and choreography and her practice involves an intimate, engaged and frequently playful process of research and collaboration.
Using both documentary and associative processes she create accounts of the real world as well as self-contained fictions that augment, expand or reveal aspects of the world around us. These become small interventions between the poetic and scientific, philosophical and humorous and intimate and political. The work developed often includes processes that combine text and sound, installation and photography as well as film / video.
