In This Cold’s Tending Time

StAnza poetry festival takes place in February each year and for In This Cold’s Tending Time a trio of writers from three diverse backgrounds worked in and between three Scottish gardens at the end of winter; attempting to tend to what’s underground and unseen.

Considering each garden on sites at Kinburn Park; Preservation Trust Museum, and Byre Theatre as botanical ‘performance’ we spent time in each part of St Andrews developing responses to the habitats and people we encountered, leaving temporary traces in the form of handwritten postcards as we did so. The project culminated in a public sharing of texts, scores and visual installation on the last day of the festival.
